Taking the test is a long process. The ridiculous attitude of the staff in the college office doesn’t make it any easier!

Steps involved –

a. download the form (www.ecfmg.org) or get yourself a copy of the information booklet from USIS (Marine Lines)

b. Fill the form and submit it to the student office for the dean’s signature. It costs Rs 300!

c. If you are a graduate (as is our case) and have not yet received the MB,BS degree (thank you, Bombay University) then you need to enclose a letter from the dean which says that you have graduated and completed all requirements but will receive the degree only in December. The process for obtaining this letter is long and depends on the whims of the powers that be (read, staff in the student office). If you need help with that contact me directly for more up to date information!

d. Payment can be made by bank draft or credit card (which carries a $20 surcharge)

e. Send the completed form to ecfmg, Pennsylvania.

f. In about six weeks, you will receive your scheduling permit.

g. Call Sylvan testing in Delhi and take your appointment for the exam. REMEMBER THAT THE NAME ON THE SCHEDULING PERMIT MUST EXACTLY MATCH THAT ON THE PASSPORT OR DRIVING LICENSE… THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. BEWARE OF THE MIDDLE NAME – IF IT IS PRESENT ON YOUR SCHEDULING PERMIT BUT ABSENT ON THE PASSPORT – YO UWILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE EXAM. CONTACT ECFMG IMMEDIATELY IF YOU NOTICE SUCH A DISCREPANCY.
