Love Ke Liye Saala Kuch
Bhi Karega :
Overall : 2.5 /5
*Star Appeal : 4/5 (Sonali Bendre...)
*Acting : 2/5 ( None of the actors are any
good in the comic roles they play..)
*Music : 3/5 ( Im feeling generous...)
The only good thing that I can say about the movie is that the actresses look
really beautiful. Sonali Bendre , as always looks stunning and so does Twinkle
Khanna. So do Saif, Fardeen , and Aftab, but please don't expect me to waste any
of my adjectives on them.
Why would I start a review with a description of how the main characters look
like? Well .. because there is nothing of substance in the movie!! The story is
kind of ok, though a bit hackneyed... Saif Ali Khan, an executive harassed
by his domineering father-in-law, decides to get his own wife kidnapped for
extorting some money out of Mr.Evil father-in-law, the kidnappers being Aftab
and Fardeen ( In case you are wondering why I keep using their first names, It
is because I am too lazy to type the whole thing). The rest of the movie is
about how the plan goes awry , leading to various supposedly humorous situations
involving the three (and of course Sonali Bendre...)
The movie sucks!!! Don't get me wrong ... I like senseless comedies. I am a
great fan of the much-maligned but secretly-loved Govinda ones. However, what
this movie lacks is the all-important PUNCH. There is something funny in Govinda
muttering under his breath which Aftab lacks completely. The movie just sort of
coasts by, as if nobody was very interested while making it. Except Fardeen...
he seems to be too sincere, which might be good for the average tear-jerker ,
but is certainly not what you would expect in the sort of inane comedy that this
movie aspires to be. Come to think of it, that IS the overwhelming feeling when
you watch this movie : disinterest.
Almost forgot to mention about Johnny Lever's role in the film. Normally you
would expect Johnny to play the sort of character who has no pride and who is
absolutely unreasonable in his dealings with reality. Problem is , in the movie
Johnny , who plays the role of a small time antisocial element aspiring to be a
movie star , seems too real for comfort. It is as if the director couldn't
decide whether to restrain him and make him more believable or to let him loose
on the crowd like most other directors do.... Sadly, he leans towards the
former, thus robbing the movie of what could have been it's singular redeeming
feature.
Ooops... the movie does have a redeeming feature... The
actresses look gorgeous.. especially Sonali Bendre... Go to this movie if you
like her...a lot. Otherwise, you are better off spending some more money and
buying a ticket of "Lagaan" in the black market instead.
